Odile Decq

Okay, so I skipped figure drawing last night...but for good reason. If you ever get a chance to see a lecture by someone who looks like this

...you know it will be fascinating! And it was both fascinating and inspiring (a good thing during thesis work!). Odile Decq is a renowned French architect and head of the Ecole Speciale d'Architecture of Paris. She joined us at the University of Cincinnati last night for our lecture series.

What I love about her body of work is that it involves much more than buildings, ranging from art installations to furniture, door handles and sailboats. Of particular interest, the custom Esense Wally 143 sailboat:

I know NOTHING about boats, but this one is beautifully crafted! You can see interior images at ODBC's website.

And, my personal favorite...Victor's House.
